2022 Cody Cup Adult
Drop In Tournament
We are trying to hold an adult drop tournament in a very short period of time and hope to get this first one completed. Please help us achieve our goal and participate!
Tournament Details:
Playing participants are open to adult aged (18 year old plus). Open to both genders and all skill levels.
Limited to 6 teams, with 10-12 skaters and 1 goal tender. First 78 players to register will be in the team selection pool.
Alternates may be called up and the price to play will be pro-rated.
Team selections will be made by Team Captains on January 12, so register early.
Game format will be round robin, where each team will play each-other. The team with the most wins - WINS!
Tie breakers are being decided upon and will be shared upon the start of the tournament.
Games will consist of 3, stop time, 15 minute periods with 1 hour curfew; zam in between games.
Each team will play 5 games: 1 on Friday, 3 on Saturday, and 1 on Sunday. Total of 15 games.
This tournament is not sanctioned by USA Hockey and each participant will need to sign a liability waver before being eligible to play.
Each player must register with the Cody Cup Tournament form.
The cost of the tournament is $75 for each player which includes a playing jersey. If a jersey is not provided, $20 will be refunded.
It is smart for all players to bring a light and dark jersey if we cannot get these jerseys in time.
Playing Rules:
The tournament will follow USA Hockey Adult rules with a few exceptions, mentioned below.
This is a non-checking tournament.
Each player is limited to 2 goals per game, any extra goals scored by the player will result in a face-off in the neutral zone.
Fighting will not be tolerated and those who fight will be removed from the game. After the game, the referees and the tournament coordinator will determine the fate of these individuals and may be disqualified from the entire tournament.
Icing will be called from the defending team zone.
If the puck flies out of bounds (hits the safety netting, ceiling, walls) and lands naturally back on the ice, it will be considered a live puck. This is not the case if the puck hits players in the bench and is intentional directed back into play by someone on the bench. The spirit of this rule is to keep the game moving if the puck stays naturally in play.
All non-coincidental penalties will result in a penalty shot. 1 shot for minors and 5 for majors (1 for the fouled and 4 others). And the offending players will serve their penalties and teams will not play short-handed.
Bench minor penalties for abuse of officials shall be determined by the officials and may result in a penalty shot, misconduct, or other terms.
Intoxication will be dealt with by the Arena Manager and Tournament Coordinator and everyone in the Riley Arena must be civil.
Referees and Score Keepers:
Let the tournament director know if you are interested in officiating or score keeping. Reffing games will pay $20 for each game and Score Keeping will pay $10 per game. Officials do not need to be certified but should be skilled / experienced with the USA Hockey Rules for adult play in recreational games. Questions - ask Ken Ostrom.
Perks:
Between the first and second periods, a 5 player shoot out will happen. The winner will receive a gift basket of beverages to be shared on the bench.
A malt beverage license will be purchased for Friday and Saturday and some alcohol will be provided and be available for sale.
The normal concession stand will be open.
We are working on other goodies.
Thank you and we hope to see you at the Cody Cup!!!
